- Six Degrees is about what will happen as the world warms in response to the greenhouse effect Review by Patrick Whitefield, author of the Earth Care Manual, review in Permaculture magazine
-
Six Degrees is about what will happen as the world warms in response to the greenhouse effect. The book is called Six Degrees because, according to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the global average temperature is set to rise by anything from one to six degrees. Each chapter looks at the consequences of a rise by one degree, two degrees, and so on. Action is what it's all about. It wasn't Mark Lynas' purpose in writing Six Degrees - or mine in writing this review - to frighten people, depress them or paralyse them with pessimism. On the contrary, this is a call to action.
