Wild Flowers of Britain and Northern Europe...has long been the best field guide to wild flowers Review by Patrick Whitefield, author of the Earth Care Manual, review in Permaculture magazine
Review
Wild Flowers of Britain and Northern Europe...has long been the best field guide to wild flowers...as well as wild flowers it covers grasses, ferns, trees and shrubs, and deals with water plants more thoroughly than the previous book did. This means you only have to take one book out with you to identify any plant you're likely to meet. It's the only book I've come across that does this. But this makes it a much bigger book, and you can't just slip it in your jacket pocket and forget it's there until you want it. There is no overall key at the front of the book, which is a bit disconcerting at first. There are sub-keys for prominent groups of plants, and the book as a whole is laid out so that the text itself can be used to key an unknown plant. (Posted on 07/07/2010)
