It works primarily as a wood burning stove, and yet it’s flexible enough to work with other cooking fuels such as esbit/hexamine tablets, night light candles, meths stoves, and even a Trangia™ gas burner. My friend and part-time teepee dweller, Martin Holme, has been testing the Honey Stove, a light ‘flat-packable’ multi-fuel cooker that is made in the UK.Review
“It is primarily a small wood-burning stove but it also works with other cooking fuels such as esbit/hexamine tablets, night light candles, meths, gel fuel cells etc. The system comprises nine pieces of well-machined metal which you can build into different configurations according to the way you decide to fuel it. You can use it with almost any type of small cooking pan, a billy can or even a metal cup. In wood burning mode, it works best with small pieces of dry wood no thicker than a pencil. I used a couple of fistfuls of wood shavings to test the claim that it could boil 500ml of water in 8-10 minutes. My water was boiling in under eight minutes. The Honey Stove is one of the those delightful products – like a Granfors axe – that is enjoyable every time you use it.”
